How It's Made

Beginning from solid blocks of acrylic, the coin displays are machined to size and polished to a mirror finish. After the magnets are added, the halves are sent through the laser engraver, precisely etching the artwork.

Next is the piano black LED bases – the most difficult fabrication process. Using precise miter-joints, the body is assembled and the diffused lighting circuitry is checked and installed. Once the base is sealed, the lighting is powered up once more to verify functionality.

Adaptable

It's easy to swap your favorite coins since the acrylic plates are held together by magnetic clasps.

International

The piano black LED base is powered by USB so you can illuminate it from the wall or your computer.

Durable

SkunX called in a favor from a friend in the defense industry to build the circuit for these coin displays. This is the most simple and robust circuit possible for this design. It was designed by an electrical engineer who works in the Space Department of Lockheed Martin.
